APSEZ and J N Port are among the 12 new members of the Indian Maritime Centre (IMC), the apex maritime body. With this new initiative, the Adani Group’s presence in the global port sector will increase. The new members also include the Indian Ports Association, Indian Register of Shipping, Sagarmala Development Company Limited, Indian Maritime University, Association of Container Train Operators, Container Shipping Lines Association, Cochin Shipyard Limited, Cochin Port Authority, National Union of Seafarers of India, and Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation.

Various state maritime boards, shipping companies, port organisations, and major ports are also currently trying to become members of the IMC. This increased interest of maritime stakeholders in becoming part of IMC will allow it to further fulfil its objective of bringing about growth to the port sector of India and streamlining the port operations.
