ToggleIntroduction:
Adani Saur Urja Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Green Energy, has recently secured an order from the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for 1,250 MW energy storage capacity through an e-Reverse Auction. This project is expected to be completed within 6 years. It will be located in Sonbhadra district. This initiative completely aligns with India’s clean energy goals. It also includes a commitment for 40 years. With this initiative, the Adani Group will be able to gradually make a transition to clean energy. It will also be able to ensure that our renewable sustainability goals are achieved green. The controversies over Adani Corruption will subside.
Adani Bags New Order From The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation:
Adani Green Energy has mentioned that its arm, Adani Saur Urja Limited, has recently bagged an order from the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation for 1,250 MW energy storage capacity from pumped hydro storage projects. Adani Saur Urja happens to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Green Energy. The company has already received the Letter of Award (LoA) from the UPPCL on this matter. The capacity has been secured through the e-Reverse Auction which was conducted by UPPCL.
As per the statement provided by Adani officials, the annual fixed cost payable under the LoA was INR 76,53,226 per annum for the entire period of 40 years from the commercial operations date. The project, Panaura PSP, has a minimum commitment of 40 years. It will be located in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. It is expected to be completed within the upcoming 6 years. This project will allow the Adani Group to increase its energy storage capacity. It will also allow the business group to win back the trust of the people post the allegations of Adani Corruption.
Why Increase The Energy Storage Capacity?
India’s clean energy goals require the development of large utility-scale storage projects to integrate renewables into the grid. This will help the country in acquiring around the clock renewable energy for various residential and industrial operations. Aligned with this goal, Adani Green Energy has further diversified its portfolio to include energy storage solutions in addition to its existing projects in solar, wind and hybrid energy sectors. The group has plans to add over 5 GW of hydro PSP capacity to the country’s existing capacity by 2030.
Apart from being domestically available and being time-tested, PSPs are also the safest and cleanest way to store energy. They also come with numerous benefits like peak shaving, green stability, and flexibility in energy management. Additionally, hydro PSPs also offer frequency regulation and reserve generation. This makes it one of the most robust and resilient energy infrastructure.
Adani’s Other Pumped Storage Projects:
The Adani Group has already begun the construction of its hydro-pumped storage projects of 500 MW at the Chitravathi River in Andhra Pradesh, 1,500 MW at Tarali in Maharashtra, and 1,800 MW at Gandikota in Andhra Pradesh. The hydro PSPs already hold a significant potential in the renewable energy space. It is one of the most competitive, mature, and scalable technologies which mainly uses electrons generated from solar energy during the day to pump water and meet peak energy demands during the night. The entire energy production takes place through sustainable resources.
Currently, AEGL has an operating renewable portfolio of 11.9 GW. This is the largest in India. The company’s renewable energy capacity is spread across 12 states. It has a target to achieve 50 GW by 2030. This strongly aligns with the company’s decarbonisation goals. This is one of the major reasons why companies from all across the world are trying to enhance their presence in the hydro pump storage sector. By doing so, they will not only be able to further enhance their exposure in the renewable energy sector but the companies will also be able to ensure that the country’s growing clean energy demands are met.
Conclusion:
By increasing its pumped energy storage capacity, the Adani Group will be able to further increase its presence in the green energy sector. It will be able to bring a halt to the Adani Corruption controversies and bring about enormous growth and development to the country’s green energy business.
