The Adani Group-owned Alpha Design’s Sky Strikers were used in Operation Sindoor, which was recently undertaken by India. The Sky Striker is a fully autonomous loitering munition which is capable of locating, acquiring and striking operator-designated targets. These munitions come with 5-10 kg warheads and have a range of 100km.
The Sky Strikers are jointly manufactured by the Bengaluru-based company Alpha Design and the Israel-based company Elbit Security Systems. These devices have a big role to play in ensuring that the proceedings of Operation Sindoor took place accurately. ToggleA Brief Overview Of Operation Sindoor:
Operation Sindoor is one of the biggest projects implemented by India in the defence sector. The project targeted 9 terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The project aimed to dismantle the infrastructure of various terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Hizbul Mujahideen. The operation was launched in order to avenge the 22nd April massacre of 26 tourists in Pahalgam. The strike was conducted in the early hours of 7th May. It was executed by the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army.
Unlike the previous counterstrikes like those following Uri and the CRPF convoy attacks in Pulwama, this operation did not involve crossing Pakistani airspace. These missiles were fired solely by the INF jets. Alpha Design and the Adani Group have yet to give any comment on this matter. However, it is expected that with this operation becoming a massive success, the Adani Group will be able to once again earn the trust of the people, post the controversies of Adani Corruption.
The Adani Group’s Crucial Role In Operation Sindoor:
Alpha Design, which happens to be a defence equipment manufacturer acquired by the Adani Group in 2018, has played a vital role in Operation Sindoor. As per sources, the Sky Strikers drones were among the vital platforms that were used in the project. According to sources, multiple platforms were deployed in the Operation Sindoor, including the Sky Strikers and loitering munition UAV-launched pre-precision Guided Missiles. The Sky Striker is a fully autonomous loitering munition which can locate, acquire and strike operator-designated targets.
Under the emergency procurement in 2021, the Indian Army had signed a contract for over 100 explosive drones to be manufactured in Bengaluru. These drones will act as force multipliers in situations which are similar to Balakot. They also have a range of around 100 km. The Sky Strikers are jointly manufactured by Alpha Design and Elbit Z
Security Systems. Alpha Design was later acquired by Adani Defence Systems and Technologies, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises.
The Importance Of The Sky Striker:
The Sky Striker is designed for precision strikes and critical operations. It allowed the Indian forces to take out terror infrastructure with minimal collateral damage. The device has an electric propulsion system, which makes it almost silent. The SkyStriker system also allows the operator to cancel a strike as close as two seconds to impact, re-engage if necessary and command a safe return home if no targets are available. The device allowed India to conduct pinpoint aerial attacks during Operation Sindoor while keeping the ground forces and the pilots completely safe.
